Genesis Class Update 11/21/2010

Genesis Class,

We had a great turnout today at the Young Adult Thanksgiving Potluck! There was a lot of fantastic food! Rodney delivered a short lesson about the history of Thanksgiving. The overall message for the day between Clayton and Rodney is that as Christians we should give thanks everyday, even when it's really hard to think of something to be thankful for. Rodney suggested writing down all that you are thankful for and letting those for whom you are thankful know.

Next Sunday Jeff and I will be in Houston and Heath and Courtney will be out of town visiting family. Please let me know if you plan on being in class on Sunday so we will know whether or not to hold class, and if you would be willing to teach. Heath has materials that you can get from him or you can do something on your own.

Missions:

Welcome Home a Hero Sunday, December 19th. Meet at the church at 7am to combine cars and head to DFW to welcome home the troops. Wear your red, white, and blue. Everyone can head to breakfast afterwards. Please let Brad M. know if you are planning on going so that he can contact you if anything changes since it is all dependent on flights.

Winterfest Saturday, February 5 needs our help...
7:45am-9am 6 greeters to welcome people and help with directions to Cafes, bathrooms, classrooms, and possibly registration
7:45am-9am 6 (2 for each Cafe) to help get drinks and set up for lunch
11am-12:30pm 6 (2 for each Cafe) to help get drinks and clean up
Let me know if you are interested in helping. This is an event for seniors (many who do not got to FUMCR) to come learn about different topics.

Socials:

After Christmas Party at Brad and Kristin's house will be the second weekend in January. Look for an evite soon.

Joys and Concerns:

We did not have an opportunity today, but I know there will be lots of traveling this week.

***NO CLASS ON December 19th (Welcome Home a Hero) and December 26th (one hour of worship)***

Happy Thanksgiving!

Amanda
